Why Do Big Chain Corporation Pet Stores Throw Pet Food Away?

We’ve all seen and heard of dumpsters filled with perfectly good products. Many times we wonder why it’s thrown away. Many say it’s a liability but today’s Big Corp environment isn’t about concern for customers is it? Probably not. Profit is king even if there are people starving and pets that need adopting out.
There is usually a perfectly good reason that usable items are thrown in the trash instead of donated. That reason is most often profit. We’ve seen the “Round Up for Charity” at many cash registers around the world. That money is a tax write off for that business. Probably not many Big Corp businesses would do it if it weren’t. They donate all that money you give them under their own name several sources have claimed.
Adoption of pets is also more about money than it is doing good. We all understand that a business has to make money but does it seem misleading the way it’s done?

“Actually, when they fill out that form for adoption you make a donation. They then take that form and turn it in to their insurance company as proof of damage /defect to their product that they disposed of . you are a witness to this . so they get full reimbursement for their product plus additional donation. And they hope you buy meds to cure that product… XXXXX does the same thing..so any product removed from their store contributes to their cause.. some people even steal ferrets and other animals to not contribute.. those are also reimbursed.. that is reason the employees won’t try to stop you.”
“I was reprimanded for giving good advice when I worked there 23 years ago.. being told “healthy fish don’t make us money” profit comes from sale of meds.. all products live or not are insured.. you have to have proper documentation of disposal of live products.. whether it is thrown away, discounted or donated/adopted as a defective.. this is why first things are put on clearance, (step 1 of income recovery) then thrown away.. dumpsters are full of food that expires at end of month and clearance items that don’t sell and all return products.. they could donate the food to animal shelter but then they only get a tax break instead of reimbursement of loss.”
In this day and age very few people or businesses do anything out of the goodness of their hearts. Big Corp has more to do with Big Profit. And again, profit is all good and well in a Capitalist world but fabricating schemes covertly doesn’t seem right does it?
