Abbot is the number one baby formula producer in the US and the Western Hemisphere. It produces Similac, Ensure, Pedisute, Pediasure, Pedialyte, Glucerna, Freestyle, Elecare, Nepro, Jevity, Abbot brand, and two local formulas. Abbott is just about as close to a monopoly as one can get.
The Abbot plant was shut down because of a bacterial infection in infants. Months after the shutdown the investigation didn’t find any linking evidence to the factory and the sick infants. It would seem that the FDA, a government entity, would operate much faster and with. more breadth. Government agencies, officials, and politicians would and should have know that Abbot not producing baby formula would be a huge issue.
Good thing the people that essentially created this problem are here to save the day miraculously. It’s almost as if this crisis was created intentionally. I might believe that if I didn’t already know how inept thing can be with government controlled actions. The current administration has found a plane load of baby formula, thankfully, and is bringing it to save the day. Never let a crisis go to waste.
